One way to repair drywalls is by using quick and easy wall patches. They are convenient because they easy to apply and it leaves your wall looking like it was never damaged at all.

The first thing you need to be able to repair drywalls using quick and easy wall patches is to have a proper four or six inch putty knife. You will know its good based on its flexibility when pressed against the wall. You will also need a standard drywall joint compound. These will provide the fillers for your holes and cracks. Also these will serve as the adhesive to keep your repairs in place. The last thing you need will be a sanding block. These will be used for smoothing and finishing the joints.

Repairing small holes and dents in drywalls using wall patches is relatively quick and easy. Using the putty knife, fill up the hole with joint compound. Scrape the excess and wait for it to dry. The compound has the tendency to shrink so it is advisable to apply more coats of the compound as is necessary. Afterwards it will be all about sanding it to smoothness.

Larger holes are a different story. To be able to repair larger drywall holes using quick and easy wall patches, you will need a backing to hold the compound in place. Cardboards, tin cans and wood strips are just some of the many kinds of backings that can be used. Attach these backing on the inside part of the wall using string or some screw and nails. Next apply a coating of drywall joint compound to cover the hole. Wait for it to dry before another coating. Apply fiberglass tape on the seams to cover the edges. Lastly, put a last coat of drywall compound before sanding and priming it.

Another method used for repairing large drywall holes using quick and easy wall patches is called the “hat patch.” This is done with a piece of drywall which is the same size as the hole. There must be an inch or two of paper that is left on the edges of the drywall which will serve as the covering for the joints. Just put the “drywall hat” on the hole and apply two or more coats of joint compound on the edges and all over the hole. Finish it by sanding.
